Six teams competed at Veterans Invitational Rifle Competition for traveling trophy

PALMYRA, Mo. — The 12th annual Veterans Invitational Rifle Competition was held Saturday, Sept. 21, at the David Berti shooting range at the south spillway of the Cannon Dam. This is a marksmanship competition held by the Palmyra VFW and American Legion posts.

Six teams competed for the coveted traveling trophy. The winning team this year was sponsored by American Legion Boots-Dickson Post 174. Their team leader was Nik Yager and also featured Rodney Gottman, Dillon Smith and Dustin Smith. The top three individual shooters were Dillon Smith in first place, Rodney Gottman in second place and Klaus Nunemacher in third place.

The event received support from the community in the form of donations to be used as prizes and giveaways. All proceeds from the event went to the veterans home in Mexico, Mo.
