HANNIBAL, Mo. — The Hannibal Parks and Recreation Department is providing a Storybook Trail in Central Park specially geared to children through May 16.

The pages of the book are installed along the sidewalk in Central Park. The signs were donated by Park Place Sign Systems of Hannibal, and the books were donated by Scholastic. This year’s book is “Are We There Yeti?” It is a picture book about Bigfoot driving the school bus on a field trip. The book was written by Ashlyn Anstee.

Mary Lynne Richards, recreation supervisor with Hannibal Parks and Recreation, said the book will be available for two weeks to give youngsters a chance to read the book as they walk through the park.

“Reading helps youngsters learn about sounds, words and language,” Richards said in a press release. “It’s a good way to develop an appreciation for nature and imagination when we encourage reading outside.”
