Tau Kappa Epsilon members from C-SC assist with clean-up at Camp Sacajawea

QUINCY — Approximately 25 members of Tau Kappa Epsilon, a social fraternity at Culver Stockton College., volunteered their time to assist with spring cleanup at Camp Sacajawea.

The students spent approximately two hours removing brush and picking up trash adjacent to the trails. They maintained the fire pits, stacked wood for the fire pits and cleaned around the cabin.

Barbara Baker Chapin, director of development at Transitions, said the volunteer service was appreciated.

“The weather will soon be such that walkers, the scouts and other groups will want to use the camp,” Chapin said in a press release. “It is great that the trails and fire pit will be clean and inviting for those who come out to the property.”

Camp Sacajawea is owned by Transitions of Western Illinois, a community mental health and rehabilitation services provider. Located on 77 acres of timber land, Camp Sacajawea has handicapped accessible trails that are available to the public for walking. The property also has a small lodge for use by not-for-profit groups.

If a group is interested in using the camp and/or the lodge, contact Angela Dean at Transitions by calling 217-223-0413, ext. 306.
