The Salvation Army of Hannibal kicks off Tree of Lights Christmas campaign

HANNIBAL, Mo. — The Hannibal Salvation Army kicked off the Christmas season with its annual Tree of Lights Christmas Kick-Off event on Nov. 16 at The Rialto. Campaign chairs Eddie and Tracy Lennox were introduced along with the announcement of the campaign goal of $122,000.

In a press release, Eddie Lennox said, “We believe God commands us to be the light in this dark world.”

“We are dedicated to making a difference during our time as campaign chairs for The Salvation Army,” added Tracy Lennox.

The Salvation Army provides a variety of programs and services to assist families in need in the counties of Marion, Ralls, Lewis, Monroe and Shelby. Following are a few examples of ways The Salvation Army has given a hand up to neighbors in need:

  • 3,351 people received assistance from The Salvation Army of Hannibal
  • 1,493 food boxes were distributed
  • 14 families received utility assistance
  • 15 families received rent assistance
  • 369 items of clothing were distributed

During the 2022 Christmas season:

  • 668 families received Christmas food boxes
  • 1,335 toys were distributed in partnership with Toys for Tots of Northeast Missouri
  • Volunteers are essential to the Christmas season and assist with many Christmas programs and activities, especially bell ringing
