Tri-State Service Foundation joins Tek Forward as National Month of Service main sponsors

PALMYRA, Mo. — The Tri-State Service Foundation, a local organization focused on community service, announced it has joined Tek Forward as main sponsors of the National Month of Service Campaign, set for October of this year.

“Tri-State Service Foundation’s main purpose is to bring volunteers and non-profits together. It made sense to us to be part of a campaign the emphasizes service through time rather than money, bringing awareness to the community about service to each other,” Luis Barnes, executive director of Tek Forward and Tri-State Service Foundation’s board of directors president, said in a press release.

“So far, we have 30 businesses spread across nine states and four countries, but we want more. This is a great opportunity for the community to come together and help each other. We are asking the media to help us spread the word; we are asking the local governments of Quincy, Hannibal and Palmyra to join us, to let their respective communities know they care for all. But let’s just not talk about it. Let’s get out there as well.”

The National Month of Service Campaign is in its first year and it is scheduled to run throughout October.

Barnes thanked:

  • Quincy University alumni, under the leadership of Matthew Bergman, senior director of university advancement, where the idea sparked from the Alumni Month of Service;
  • Sturhahn Jewelers, owned by Jeff Sturhahn and Sarah Stegeman, who enthusiastically pledged their support as the first of among local businesses;
  • Edge Industrial Technologies in Northern Kentucky pledged through Rocke Saccone, vice president of sales, and
  • The Quincy ACA Business Club, led by Craig Moncey, Rich Ellerman and Eric Thomas.
