United Way of the Mark Twain Area to be host of Mom Prom Nov. 11 at Olive Branch in Palmyra
PALMYRA, Mo. — United Way of the Mark Twain Area will be the host of a fundraiser for moms who need a night out to enjoy themselves without kids before kicking off the holiday season.
Mom Prom will be held from 7-11 p.m. Nov. 11 at the Olive Branch Event Venue in Palmyra. Tickets are on sale now.
Attendees are encouraged to get out a vintage prom dress, dust off an old bridesmaid dress or hit up a local thrift store to find the perfect dress for the event. Prizes will be awarded for the best vintage dress, best bridesmaid dress, and best thrift find.
A queen of the Mom Prom will be crowned at the event. Community members are encouraged to nominate someone to be a queen candidate. The deadline to nominate is Friday, Oct. 20. Queen candidates can attend the prom without purchasing a ticket.
Each queen candidate will raise funds for United Way. The candidate who raises the most money before the event will be crowned the Mom Prom Queen. Nominations can be made here.
Rialto on the Road will serve drinks. Snacks will be available. Tickets are $25 apiece or $100 for a bundle of 5 and can be purchased here.
Proceeds will benefit the United Way’s campaign which will provide financial support to the following local organizations: AVENUES, Birthday Blessings, CHART Teen Task Force, Coyote Hill, Douglass Community Services, Families and Communities Together, Hannibal Free Clinic, Hannibal Parents as Teacher, Harvest Outreach Ministries, Hannibal Alliance for Youth Success, Heartland Resources, Inc., Learning Opportunities/Quality Works, Monroe City Food Pantry, Northeast Community Action Corporation, The Salvation Army of Hannibal, The Child Advocacy Center of Northeast Missouri and the YMCA of Hannibal.
Community members and businesses are encouraged to partner with United Way to be a light to individuals who rely upon these community agencies. Contributions to the Be A Light campaign can be made online at unitedwaymta.org or by mailing gifts to P.O. Box 81, Hannibal, Mo., 63401.
