HANNIBAL, Mo. — The Hannibal Arts Council selects special award winners during its annual Hannibal Folklife Festival. Awards are decided based upon the quality and uniqueness of the exhibitor’s work, adherence to the folklife theme and overall presentation. Awards were presented by HAC Staff.

Winning Artists

  • Best of Show in the Artist category was woodworker Lee Atkins of Moosehead Woodworks from Hannibal.  Atkins has been a long-time Folklife Festival exhibitor and a popular booth with the festival attendees.
  • First place in the Artist category was Puddled Glass Jewelry from Callao. This was their first year exhibiting at the Folklife Festival.
  • Second place in the Artist category went to Missouri Dulcimer Company from Warrensburg. Kirby Carroll has been building mountain dulcimers since 1984 and his wife, Lesa, is accomplished at playing the dulcimer.

Each year, the Hannibal Arts Council selects one award winner in the Food category.

  • Best of Show in the Food category was St. John’s Lutheran School. Representatives of the school sold cheese soup with proceeds benefitting school programming.

The Hannibal Folklife Festival features traditional arts, performances, foods, fall and community. Next year’s dates are Oct. 19-20.
