QU art professor Robert Lee Mejer receives national and international art exhibition selections

QUINCY — Several works of Robert Lee Mejer, distinguished professor of art, have been selected for national and international art exhibitions and for publications.

Mejer’s watercolors “Lifeline” and “Take PC Open Book #2” were featured in the seventh COLOR International Juried Art competition with artists from 36 countries. Mejer received the Honorable Mention Award.

His watercolor “Lifeline” was shown in the 2024 Watercolor USA National Exhibition in the Springfield Art Museum-Missouri and received an Award of Excellence. He received the Rome Chelsi Award for “Lifeline” in the 50th Rocky Mountain National Watermedia Exhibition at the Center for the Arts in Evergreen, Colo.

Mejer’s watercolor “Take #19” was juried into the 44th International San Diego Watercolor Society Exhibition. His watercolor “Variant: Vivace A” was selected for inclusion in then INNOVATIONS 2024 33rd International Open Juried International Society of Experimental Artists Exhibition in Central Park Place, Grand Haven, Mich.

His watercolor “Take PC Open Book #8, “Variant:Newborn” and Colored “Goldie” a digital drawing were selected for inclusion in the Mary S. Oakley/Lee Lindsay Artist Showcase at the Quincy Art Center.

Mejer’s monotype “Variant 1-PC#26” was selected for publication in the 42nd Edition of Artistonish Magazine. His watercolor “Take PC Open Book #8” was selected as one of the 60 contest finalists for the Circle Quarterly International Art Review Magazine.

Mejer’s painting “Take PC#10” was accepted in the National Watercolor Society and Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour 2024 International Exchange Online Exhibition.

Six jurors from China, Australia and America selected Mejer’s watercolor “Variant: Mappings III” for exhibition in the 2024 Qingdao International Watercolor Grand Prix Exhibition in Shandong Province, China.

Mejer was a charter member in the Watercolor USA Honor Society and served on the WHS board for 26 years as treasurer, president and chair of the membership exhibitions “Watercolor NOW!” for various venues. At the June 2024 board meeting, Mejer retired and received the WHS board member eEmeritus 2024 recognition.
