The District hands out awards at annual meeting

QUINCY — More than 100 people attended The District’s annual meeting Wednesday night at State Street Theater to hear about plans for 2025, congratulate award winners and celebrate milestones.

Board President Jason Traeder ended his term and gave a recap on the organization’s year and presented a slideshow to attendees, highlighting partnerships with GREDF, The Quincy Area Chamber of Commerce, SeeQuincy and other community organizations.

The District, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the growth, preservation, and economic vitality of Downtown Quincy, has volunteers donating over 1,000 hours of service along with 65 programs and events drawing more than 68,000 to Quincy.

Traeder said 12 new businesses came to The District in 2024.

New board members for 2025 include Erin Florea of Quincy Medical Group, Adams County Public Defender Jonathan Hoover, Kelli Langston of The Sweet Apricot, and Ryan Christian of Electric Fountain Brewing.

District Executive Director Brianna Rivera honored the theme of the Adams County Bicentennial and highlighted businesses, including 12 new ones that opened in 2024, as well as anniversaries of others, including:

  • Seoul2Soul — 5 years
  • 644 Maine — 10 years
  • WCU Tower — 100 years
  • Blessing Health System — 150 years

New Board President Tieraney Craig presented the awards for 2024:

  • Organization – The City Of Quincy
  • Design – Enchanted Books
  • Economic Vitality – 6th Street Advocate Group
  • Promotion – Quincy Makers Market
  • New Business of the Year – The Pour Haus
  • Business of the Year – Calftown Coffeehouse
  • Special Service Award – Joe Sharrow of the Quincy Park District

The District will also be moving in with their economic development partners, The Great River Economic Development Foundation and the Quincy Area Chamber of Commerce at 501 Hampshire Street in 2025.
