Feeding tips for pregnant cows and heifers

COLUMBIA, Mo. — Allison Meyer will share the latest research in feeding and managing pregnant beef cows and heifers at the Tuesday, July 22, virtual session of the Pearls of Production: Women in Agriculture series. The session runs from 7 to 8 p.m.
Meyer will give updates on how to manage and feed cows during late pregnancy. In a press release, University of Missouri Extension livestock specialist Heather Conrow, who chairs the annual Pearls of Production event, said, “Management and nutrition of cows and heifers during late pregnancy can have long consequences for themselves and their calves,”
Meyer, a cow-calf nutritionist and physiologist, researches the nutrient partitioning of cows to calves to improve herd productivity and pre-weaning calf survival.
Pearls of Production is designed to provide leadership and hands-on training for women actively involved in the livestock industry, Conrow says. Meyer’s presentation is one of five webinars providing the foundation for hands-on training at the in-person conference on Nov. 8. Register at http://muext.us/POPevents.
