LEWIS COUNTY, Mo. — Even though June is winding down, it’s never too late to recognize the importance of June Dairy Month, a time to celebrate the hardworking dairy farm families who bring nutritious, delicious dairy products to our tables every day.

June Dairy Month has been a tradition across the United States for more than 85 years. Originally created to help stabilize demand for milk during the summer, it has grown into a national celebration of all things dairy, from farm to fridge.

Dairy farmers work every day to produce milk that is a cornerstone of a healthy diet. Packed with essential nutrients like calcium, protein and vitamin D, dairy products like milk, cheese and yogurt support strong bones, muscle function and overall well-being.

In a press release, Brenda Schreck, University of Missouri Extension Livestock Field Specialist in Lewis County, said, “Growing up on a dairy farm, I saw firsthand the dedication and care that goes into producing milk every single day. June Dairy Month is a wonderful reminder to appreciate the farmers who work tirelessly behind the scenes to provide wholesome, nutritious dairy products for our families and communities.”
