11th annual Rotary Oktoberfest Street Festival set for Sept. 28 in German Historic District

Oktoberfest

QUINCY — Rotary’s Oktoberfest returns to The District and QUBA (Quincy Brewery Arts) on Saturday, Sept. 28, with three high-energy bands.

Admission is free from noon until 10 p.m. in the German Historic District outside of QUBA’s Dick Brothers Brewery on York between 9th and 10th Streets. All proceeds from the event will benefit local Rotary Club projects.

Beer trucks from major local distributors offering dozens of domestic and German beers along with wine will be available. The Ratskeller bar, along with Dick Brothers Museum, will be open during the event.

The popular guided tunnel tours in the caverns beneath the brewery complex will return for $10 per person. Tours will be given every half hour from noon until 5 p.m. Sign-up is available at dickbrothersbrewery.com until 10 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 27. Any remaining slots will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.

All ages are invited to “run” the not-so-grueling 0.2k Beer and Brat Dash at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. through the streets of the festival. The coveted dash stickers will be on hand for those that finish the 200-meter race. Race cost is $12 per person. Register the day of the event at the west information station.

The festival will offer axe throwing from Quincy Axe Company. The Children’s Museum will provide activities from noon until 2 p.m.

Polka music will be played from noon to 3 p.m. by the So Grand Polka Band from St. Louis. The Alpengeist German Dance Group from Chicago will perform from 3 to 6 p.m., and Jarod Holbrook will perform from 7 to 10 p.m.

Rotary will serve German-themed food from noon to 7 p.m. A selection of food truck offerings will be available.
