QUINCY — The Adams County Bicentennial Commission continues its year-long celebration with an honor musicians’ concert at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 16, in the Morrison Theater at Quincy Junior High School. The concert will feature high school musicians from Liberty, Camp Point Central, Payson Seymour, Mendon Unity, Quincy Notre Dame and Quincy High School.

Student musicians will combine to perform selections directed by Adams County band directors Gayle Tenhouse, Charles Brooks and Jill Steinkamp. The concert celebrates the formation of the Adams County Music Educators Association in 1950 and the Adams County Panorama Concert which was originally started in 1955. The goal of the Adams County music educators was to “create a closer cooperation between the educators in all departments of music in Adams County while promoting a spirit of cooperation and collaboration.”

The Adams County honor musicians will be a part of the annual spring concert presented by the Quincy Concert Band, directed by Trent Hollinger. The student musicians will combine with the Quincy Concert Band to perform the finale selection, “America The Beautiful” arranged by Carmen Dragon.

Admission is free. Reserved seats will be available for Adams County Bicentennial sponsors.
