HANNIBAL, Mo. — Professional and non-professional artists 18 and older and youths 8 to 17 who live within a 50-mile radius of Hannibal were invited to submit images of original works for the eighth annual Art in the Open billboard art competition. A total of 143 entries were submitted, with 108 in the adult division.

Artists with winning images to be featured on a Robinson Outdoor digital billboard in Hannibal are:

  • “Feline” oil pastel by Amanda DePriest of Louisiana, Mo.
  • “Menomorphosis: Mood Swing” watercolor by Kelly Eddington of Monroe City and
  • “Writing in Style” handcrafted acrylic pens by Roger McGregor of Hannibal.

The selection committee chose two of the three winning images in the adult division. To determine the third winning image, the public voted on their favorite image from a field of four finalists via a Facebook contest. More than 750 votes were cast in the contest.

The contest was created by the Hannibal Arts Council in partnership with Robinson Outdoor and Independent’s Service Company.
