HANNIBAL, Mo. — The July/August Art for the Health of It exhibit at the Hannibal Arts Council’s satellite gallery within Blessing Health Hannibal features works by artist Brenda Benson.

Benson was born and raised in Hannibal and now lives in Monroe City. She taught art for 26 years in public schools. Upon her retirement, Benson started pursuing her passion of painting, specifically watercolor. Presently, Benson’s direction is to work in a grid, in a shadow box-like format.

“Many of my pieces are experiments to see where this 3D watercolor can take me. I am just having so much fun with them, and I don’t know where these experiments will go,” Benson said in a press release.

Art for the Health of It was created as a year-round partnership between the Hannibal Arts Council and Blessing Health Hannibal. The exhibit series features original works by local artists and may be viewed in the facility’s West entrance reception/waiting area.
