Basket weaving workshop set for July 22 at Hannibal Arts Council
HANNIBAL, Mo. — The Hannibal Arts Council will host a basket weaving workshop with Pat Moore from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, July 22, at the Hannibal Arts Council, 105 S. Main.
The workshop will include instructions for weaving and assembling a 4-inch Acorn Nantucket basket, beginning with a brief discussion on the art of basket weaving and weaving techniques using baskets made by the instructor as examples. Supplies and tools will be provided, including necessary tools, basket base, rim and lid and additional weaving supplies needed to complete the basket.
Moore, from New Haven, made her first basket in 1999. She has made more than 4,100 baskets since she taught basket weaving at the Vocational School in Washington. She teaches basket weaving and chair caning in her home studio with a following of approximately 75 students.
