Canadian band Queen Flash to perform tribute to Queen on Saturday at Legacy Theater
CARTHAGE, Ill. — Classic music from the 1970s and 1980s will “rock you” with Queen Flash performing the music of Queen at The Legacy Theater in Carthage at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 11.
Vocalist Johnny Zatylny has been honoring the musical tradition of Queen’s lead singer, Freddie Mercury, since 2000. He is one of the few who can match Mercury, and his four-octave range, from falsetto to baritone.
“There was only one Freddie,” Zatylny said in a press release about his tribute to Mercury and Queen. “All I can do is bring his spirit back to the stage.”
Queen is among the most commercially successful bands in history, selling more than 300 million albums worldwide. The band’s classic hits have become a part of the world’s musical culture, including “We Are the Champions,” We Will Rock You,” Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Somebody to Love,” and “Another One Bites the Dust.”
Queen Flash pulled their name from Queen’s song, “Flash,” that was written by band member Brian May as part of their 1980 film soundtrack for “Flash Gordon.” Coming from Montreal, Canada, Queen Flash brings those hits and more to life with Zatylny’s voice and six-member band.
Tickets for the Queen Flash, and all other shows of the 2024 season, are available at www.thelegacytheater.com, by calling 217-357-9479 or by visiting the box office 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. The box office is open two hours before performances.
The Queen Flash performance is sponsored by Marine Bank and Trust.
