Chicago Festival Ballet to perform Cinderella in Morrison Theater on June 7

Quincy civic Music Assoc.

QUINCY — The Quincy Civic Music Association will present Cinderella, performed by the Chicago Festival Ballet, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at Morrison Theater. Local dancers had the opportunity to audition for this production and will take the stage with the CFB company.

Choreographer Kenneth von Heidecke founded Chicago Festival Ballet in 1989 as a not-for-profit ballet company with a grant from the Chicago Artists’ Coalition. The company received further support and notoriety from prima ballerina Maria Tallchief, who was named Chicago Festival Ballet’s artistic advisor.

Professional backgrounds, meticulous attention and methodical analysis of technique help students achieve their highest potential.  Dancers with CFB can participate in several performances every year, including a professional production of “The Nutcracker” with Von Heidecke’s Chicago Festival Ballet.

Von Heidecke was an internationally renowned choreographer for opera and ballet companies around the world, having choreographed more than 60 operas and 80 ballets.  He was hand-chosen by legendary Prima Ballerina Assoluta Maria Tallchief to appear in the 1975 world premiere of George Balanchine’s Orfeo ed Euridice, and she referred to him as her protégé.

Tickets may be purchased at the door or at Square Music Company, Sturhan Jewelers, HyVee and Niemann’s in Quincy. High school students and younger may attend at no cost. Faculty, staff, and students from JWCC, Quincy University and Culver-Stockton College gain free admission with their school ID. A single admission ticket is $25, season tickets are $100.
