Clean up your act: Comment awards brought to you by Autoshine

clean up your act

“Clean Up Your Act” is a new monthly engaging segment for your entertainment brought to you by Autoshine Car Wash located at 529 N. 48th Street and 2500 Broadway Street in Quincy.

What is it?

Our Muddy Buddy crew will be selecting the best and the worst comment from our Facebook page every month. The best comment gets a free car wash from Autoshine and the worst comment gets to be publicly admonished with the Shame Shame Bell.

It’s all in good fun and a reminder that what you write in that comment section is visible to our 26K local Facebook following. Muddy River News loves the engagement and as always, thank you for watching, reading and supporting your local news.

This month’s best comment comes from a reader’s post in which he tagged Muddy River News in, and it caught our eye. Alan Ippensen wrote:

Thought I’d read the Q-HW article about yesterday’s QHS basketball games…until I hit their paywall.

It’s (sic) says  to subscribe to support independent journalism. I’ve never hit a paywall or free article limit on Muddy River Sports or Muddy River News…

Thanks for the flattery, Alan. Free readership is something we strive hard to provide and can do so with the help of our sponsors. So here’s a big thank you to them and to readers like you. Enjoy the car wash.

As for the worst comment, it can be found under the Dec. 1 article.

We will ring the Shame Shame bell on this one. The Facebook comment section of any post is a diverse gathering of opinions. For every person that sees the issue one way, there are just as many that see it the other. In an article about Quincy’s diversity, it is ironic that someone would defend it with name calling. Equally ironic is how someone would knowingly and regularly hang out among this collection of baddies under the guise of shepherding while in actuality, they are probably trolling.

Maybe we could all make a New Year’s resolution to be a little nicer in the comment section. After this post, of course.
