Clean up your act — March

clean up your act

“Clean Up Your Act” is a monthly engaging segment for your entertainment brought to you by Autoshine Car Wash located at 529 N. 48th Street and 2500 Broadway Street in Quincy.

What is it?

Our Muddy Buddy crew will be selecting the best and the worst comment from our Facebook page every month. The best comment gets a free car wash from Autoshine and the worst comment gets to be publicly admonished with the Shame Shame Bell.  It’s all in good fun and a reminder that what you write in that comment section is visible to our 28K local Facebook following. Muddy River News loves the engagement and as always, thank you for watching, reading and supporting your local news.

This month’s award for best comment is awarded to Court Williams under a Letter to the Editor post titled: From the Left: Musklectric Burgleoo. Williams wrote a response to Frank Beaston. He wrote, “You SAW it. Saw is the past tense of see, not seen. You start talking like a grown-up, and then I’ll believe you’re smart enough to have the right to vote.”

Now, we at Muddy River do not agree with the last sentiment to the statement, as we encourage everyone to exercise their right to vote. However, Williams was responding to Frank Beaston’s comment: “MRN just dividing people now for leadership.”

So, in this case, we will let it slide and award the comment for their grammar preaching.

The negative comment of the month that gets the Shame Shame Bell could go to a lot of people this month, especially with the local elections heating up. The comment that “wins” the bell comes from Paula Johnson from an article titled: First two episodes of podcast series about Yohn and ‘nightmare no one saw coming’ available on multiple platforms. Johnson wrote, “Muddy River News making a fortune off of our community’s misfortunes. Solve a crime instead of report one once it’s been committed & solved by the Quincy Police Department.”

Paula Johnson, the podcast series was not done by Muddy River News. As far as our Sherlock skills go, we have uncovered truths, however if we uncover crime, then we would hand that over to the police. It’s the law and that’s their job to handle. Our job is to report the crimes after the police have made their reports. We hope that you SAW all the hard work that went behind the reporting of the Yohn case and understand that the only money we make is from our sponsors that support making the site available to readers like yourself.
