Staged readings

CANTON, Mo. — The Theatre Department of Culver-Stockton College’s production of “Staged Readings” will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, through Saturday, Feb. 15, and at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 16, in the Mabee Foundation Little Theatre/Black Box in the Robert W. Brown Performing Arts Center.

Admission is free to all C-SC students, faculty and staff. Tickets for the public are $10 for adults; students and seniors are $5. For ticket reservations, contact the Fine Arts office at 573-288-6346 or email finearts@culver.

This is an opportunity for C-SC playwriting students to have their work produced in a staged reading setting. Arts management graduate Alexis Mallon and senior musical theatre major Megan Eaton will have their plays performed in a workshop-style setting. Mallon’s plays are “Not Like This” and “Buzzed.” Eaton penned “Keep Ya’ Frogs Close and Your Enemies Closer” and “Gotta Stop Drinking.” These plays run the gamut from dramatic to absurd, heart wrenching to hysterical.

This production is under the direction of Haidee Heaton, professor of theatre, with assistance from Michael York, instructor of theatre design and production, David Lane, senior lecturer in theatre, and David McReynolds, assistant technical director.

These plays contain adult themes, language and content.
