HANNIBAL, Mo. — Digital billboards at Broadway and Maple Avenue and Stardust Drive will showcase works by local artists throughout June as part of the Hannibal Arts Council’s 10th annual Art in the Open billboard contest. This annual public art initiative is a collaboration between the Hannibal Arts Council and Robinson Outdoor.

Four winning entries were selected — two each from the youth and adult divisions. Featured on the billboards are:

Youth Division

  • “Blue Jay,” watercolor by Annalise Allen of Hannibal
  • “Under the Sea,” mixed media by Lilly Marshall of Hannibal

Adult Division

  • “Sunflower Bliss,” photograph by Timothy Spencer of Quincy, Ill.
  • “Retro Chique,” acrylic painting by Kachina Hudson of New London

A panel of judges selected six finalists in each division, and the public cast more than 1,100 votes via a Facebook contest to choose the final winners.

Art in the Open brings art out of galleries and into the everyday lives of residents and visitors, turning local roadsides into open-air galleries and celebrating creativity across all ages.
