QUINCY — The Quincy University Music Department recently awarded three high school students the Virtuoso Music Scholarship for the fall semester.

Students auditioned on Feb. 19 for the four-year, full-tuition scholarship. Recipients were chosen at the discretion of the music faculty based on ensemble needs and the talent level of the candidates. The students are not required to major in music during their time at the university.

Virtuoso music scholarship recipients are:

  • Chloe Jenson from St. Anthony High School in Effingham, majoring in biology;
  • Lora Launer from Warsaw High School in Warsaw, majoring in music education; and
  • Alanna Edgecomb from Camp Point Central High School in Camp Point majoring in music.

Christine Damm, dean of the school of fine arts and communication, said in a press release, “The QU music faculty were so impressed with the level of musicianship and academic background in each of the students that auditioned. We are very excited to offer the virtuoso music scholarship to three outstanding students whose hard work, dedication, and talent have truly paid off. These students will lend their talents to many of the QU music ensembles and become a part of the QU music family.”
