Fluorescent Friday offers youths opportunity to paint polygonal animals at Hannibal Arts Council

Youth Art Adventure

HANNIBAL, Mo. — The Hannibal Arts Council continues Art Adventures, its popular creative project series, with Fluorescent Friday at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, April 5, at the Hannibal Arts Council, 105 S. Main.

The April Art Adventure is a creative project for K-5th grade students. Participation fees include all supplies, an instructor and step-by-step instructions.

Participants in grades K-5 will learn how to create polygonal prisms using an animal shaped template and paint the areas with fluorescent paint on a 12” x 12” canvas. Each participant will receive a blacklight bulb to take home to view their glow-in-the-dark painting. Arts educator and local artist Stephen Schisler will lead the project.

Funding assistance for HAC youth programs is provided by General Mills Hometown Grantmaking Program, George H. Riedel Private Foundation, Community Foundation of West Central Illinois and Northeast Missouri and the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency. Program scholarships are available thanks to the support of the Jesse David Cox Memorial Fund and HAC Program Scholarship Fund donors.
