Former students of one-room schools gather for 40th annual picnic

QUINCY — The 40th annual one-room school house picnic was held at South Park on June 30. The oldest person attending was Vivian Henry.

Former students of Le Roy and Mounds schools started the annual picnic 40 years ago. Over the years, it has grown to include many more schools:.  Lynn Grove, Hickory Grove, Waters, Melrose, Mt. Carmel, Columbus and others. 

Next year’s the picnic will be held at South Park on June 22. Anyone who attended a one/two-room school is invited to attend.
