Forty Days for Life campaign coming to Quincy from March 5 to April 12

QUINCY — The 40 Days for Life campaign begins March 5 and runs through April 12.

It will feature a 40-day prayer vigil in the public right-of-way outside of Walgreens on Broadway between 17th and 18th. All prayer vigil participants are asked to sign a statement of peace, pledging to conduct themselves in a Christ-like manner at all times.

“40 Days for Life, the nation’s most innovative, peaceful prayer outreach, is coming to Quincy,” said Colleen Maalouf, coordinator of the local campaign, in a press release. “We are eager to join together with people of faith and conscience from 600 cities from coast to coast — and beyond — to pray for an end to abortion.

“We want to prevent abortion from coming to Quincy. Chemical abortions make up over 65 percent of abortions, and Walgreen and CVS corporations are actively administering the two-pill abortion regimen in the big cities. These two corporations, with the largest pharmacy businesses in the country, will now become the largest abortion providers in the country.

This initiative focuses on 40 days of prayer, fasting and peaceful vigil at abortion facilities and at pharmacies/corporations that have chosen to become abortion providers.

“40 Days for Life has consistently generated proven life-saving results,” said Shawn Carney, 40 Days for Life’s president. “During 60 internationally coordinated campaigns, more than 9,000 communities have taken part. The efforts of more than 1,000,000 people of faith have made a tremendous difference. More than 25,000 mothers have chosen life for their children. More than 268 abortion workers have quit their jobs, and 159 abortion centers where 40 Days for Life vigils have been held have gone out of business.”

“We’ve seen what 40 Days for Life has accomplished elsewhere,” Maalouf said. “It is our prayer that this campaign will help end abortions before they begin in our dear city of Quincy”
