QUINCY — Quincy University’s Gray Gallery in Brenner Library will be the site of the annual Baccalaureate-Senior Retrospective through May 10, with an artist reception to be held from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on Friday, April 19. This exhibit is free and open to the public.

This one-person exhibition presented by senior Elizabeth Cook of Quincy is a comprehensive showing of works created during her time at QU with a focus area in studio art. Cook’s exhibition features works in a variety of media including watercolor, acrylic, mixed-media, ceramic and printmaking. Along with the exhibition, she will meet with the art faculty for an assessment evaluation of her gallery presentation along with her PowerPoint presentation and her designed show catalog.

Cook will be receiving her bachelor’s degree in studio art, and she has been on the Dean’s List for four years (2020-24). She was the recipient of the Robert and Jason Mejer Visual Arts Award Scholarship, QU Trustee Grant, Discover Scholarship and the John Natalini Scholarship.

The baccalaureate show is the capstone of the senior experience through which an art major makes the transition from student to professional. The candidates prepare a comprehensive portfolio of work, assessing strengths and areas for improvement. The students participate in a senior seminar that enables each to focus on particular facets of development as an artist. During the final semester, the students collaborate to plan a professional show, design the display area, prepare publicity, develop the catalog and arrange a reception.
