Hannibal Area String Orchestra accepting children’s artwork for spring concert on May 18

HANNIBAL, Mo. — The Hannibal Area String Orchestra will present its annual spring concert at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 18 in the Roland Fine Arts Center, 2800 Palmyra Road.

The orchestra is seeking artists from grades K-12 throughout the region to submit artwork that will be projected during the performance of the piece “Carnival of the Animals,” Camille Saint-Saens’ comical look at animals of all kinds in 14 short movements. Some of the animals in the piece are turtles, elephants, swans, lions, fish and birds. The artwork should be inspired by this music.

Individuals wishing to submit art must sign up by March 22. All artwork must be in by April 15.
