HANNIBAL, Mo. — Area professional and non-professional artists were invited to submit images of original works for the 10th annual Art in the Open billboard art competition, with 47 entries in the youth division and 95 entries in the adult division. The annual contest is sponsored by the Hannibal Arts Council in partnership with Robinson Outdoor.

Winning images in the youth division were “Blue Jay,” a watercolor by Annalise Allen, and “Under the Sea,” a mixed media by Lilly Marshall, both of Hannibal. Adult division winning images were “Sunflower Bliss,” a photograph by Timothy Spencer of Quincy, Ill., and “Retro Chique,” an acrylic painting by Kachina Hudson of New London.

A selection committee chose the six finalists in each division and then opened voting through a Facebook contest for the public to determine both the adult and youth division winners. More than 1,100 votes were cast in the contests.

Art in the Open winners will have their work featured on Robinson Outdoor digital billboards at Broadway and Maple Avenue and Stardust Drive during June.
