Hawk Express jazz band to host annual fall concert Sunday at Connie Niemann Center

QUINCY — The Quincy University Music Department will host its Hawk Express jazz band fall concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, at the Connie Niemann Center for Music, 17th and Seminary Road. The concert is free and open to the public.

The band is under the direction of Christine Damm, dean of the school of fine arts and communication.

The band will perform a wide array of jazz tunes such as “The Chicken,” “String of Pearls,” “No. 1 No Pickles” and “Birks Works.” Senior music education major Cody Collins, will be featured on the trumpet feature, “Feels So Good,” a piece made famous by Chuck Mangione. Senior Kassidy Venvertloh, tenor saxophone, will be featured on the ballad “Midnight Voyage.”
