Heinze Dance Academy to present 32nd annual spring dance concerts on May 31, June 1

QUINCY — Students of Heinze Dance Academy will present their 32nd annual spring dance concerts at 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, and at 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 1, at Quincy Junior High School Morrison Theater. Tickets will be available at the door.

The concert will feature more than 200 students ages 3 and up in the styles of ballet, pointe, lyrical, modern, jazz, tap and hip hop.

The Heinze Dance Troupe will present 18 dances. The finale of the show will feature the entire 35 member troupe to “Fun In The Sun” which features a medley of songs.

Highlights of the concert are:

  • Senior Alaina Bange will perform a lyrical solo to “Wildflowers and Wild Horses”
  • Senior Kaitlyn Stegeman will perform a jazz solo to “Million Baby”
  • Senior Avery Hansen will perform a jazz solo to “These Boots Are Made For Walkin’”
  • Senior Leah Vandament will perform a modern solo to “Wednesday
  • Senior Charly Nicholson will perform a hip hop solo to “Dum Dee”
  • Seniors Lilli Butterfield and CayAnna Fantz will behighlighted in a modern piece titled “Be Prepared”
  • Seniors Sophia Gold and Charlotte Smith will be featured in a lyrical duet to “Dreaming”.

Owner and instructor Beth Heinze will be featured with former JOY award winners in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the first JOY award given in honor of Joy Wellman. Instructor Brenna Phillips also will perform.

The announcement of the most improved dancers will be announced before the finale at the Sunday performance.

Heinze, owner and operator of Heinze Dance Academy, is a 1991 Stephens College graduate with a bachelor’s degree in dance performance, an associate’s degree in liberal ats and an associate’s degree in child studies.

Phillips is a 2022 graduate of the University of Kansas with a bachelor’s degree in dance. She is the dance coach of the Quincy University Hawkettes.
