Longtime musician to sign copies of book ‘The Life of a Steel Player’ Friday before Spring Festival of Country Music

HANNIBAL, Mo. — A longtime musician and now author will be signing books at 4 p.m. Friday, May 17, at the Admiral Coontz Recreation Center.

Virgil Watts wrote the book “The Life of a Steel Player” and will be signing copies of the book before the Spring Festival of Country Music, which begins at 6 p.m. at the Admiral Coontz Recreation Center.

Watts grew up in a small Oklahoma town and has performed on the road in Texas, Oklahoma, Chicago and other Illinois towns, Wichita, Kansas and Missouri. He has played at the Admiral Coontz Recreation Center and with the musicians who play there weekly at the senior adult dances on Tuesdays from noon to 3 p.m.

Many of the musicians will be part of the performance Friday by Memory Lane which includes Martin and Betty Miller, Harlon Lain, Wendell Glance, Sue Taylor and Gregg Cornelius along with special guests.

Admittance is free but donations will be accepted for the band. Food and drink concessions will be available from Curryville Christian School.
