QUINCY — The Quincy Medical Group Foundation Moments That Matter fund, along with the Quincy Public Library, was the host two readings by author Tracy Schlepphorst on Nov. 10 in the Quincy Public Library. Schlepphorst had her dog, Ripley, with her, and all those in attendance received a copy of her book, “Eden and Her Happy.”

The readings are part of an initiative this month by Moments That Matter, which invites people to focus on and share how they are “making little moments count.”

Moments That Matter launched in 2018 with the mission to grant wishes, or moments, for those facing a difficult health diagnosis. Since joining with the QMG Foundation in 2019, the fund has expanded in hopes of reaching more individuals with purposeful moments.

“When Moments That Matter started, it was evident that the real purpose of a wish being granted was not only the experience itself, but the memories created,” QMG Community Support Specialist Kayla Baumann said in a press release. “As many things were put on pause this last year due to the pandemic, we took this opportunity to reflect on the past and look to the future of our fund. Now more than ever, we feel the importance of the everyday moments.”

Baumann said this year has been challenging in so many ways, but the real “moments that matter,” the simple joys in life, have become more precious.

Throughout November, the Moments That Matter Facebook page will share stories and information about the fund. The community is invited to enjoy the little moments with those they love and share them on social media with the hashtag #makinglittlemomentscount. For each entry, individuals will be entered to win a Moments That Matter experience package.
