‘Miss Electricity’ auditions open to local performers; actors ages 12 to 18 sought for touring production

QUINCY — Auditions for Quincy Community Theatre’s “On the Road” touring production, “Miss Electricity,” will be held March 7-8. This production is QCT’s first touring production since 2019.

“Miss Electricity” by Kathryn Walat tells the hilarious and heartwarming adventure of a young girl whose newfound superpowers cause her to lose sight of what’s important in life – friendship, family and being happy with who you are.

All experience levels are encouraged to audition. All auditioning actors will read selections from the script, which is available on the QCT website. To access the script, please contact QCT for the password.

Rehearsals will work with most schedules. Performers may not be called for every rehearsal or for the full length of rehearsal. A detailed schedule will be determined based on actor availability. Performances will be held at schools and other local organizations, often during school time.

The director will cast multiple performers for each role so a cast can be “mixed and matched” depending on actor availability on a given day. The cast, director and other production team members will travel to and from the varied performance venues. The nature of a touring production will provide participating student actors with learning opportunities unlike any other QCT student theatre production.

Online registration, detailed audition requirements and audition tips will be available at www.1qct.org/on-stage/auditions. Audition appointments also may be made by contacting the QCT Box Office at 217-222-3209.

“Miss Electricity” is available to tour from April 11 through June 3. Actors will be scheduled as performances are booked. Booking is now open for interested schools and organizations. Contact Brendon Shea, QCT head of education, at (brendan.shea@1qct.org) for rates and availability.
