QCMA brings award-winning Wild Prairie Winds to St. John’s Anglican Church on Saturday

QUINCY — In collaboration with Quincy Public Schools, the Quincy Civic Music Association is the host of a concert by Wild Prairie Winds chamber music group to be held at St. John’s Anglican Church, 701 Hampshire, at 7:30 p.m. May 11.

The group is devoted to small communities through disaster relief, diversity inclusion and awareness and environmental initiatives. Five innovative musicians founded Wild Prairie Winds in 2017 at the University of Iowa. They created online educational content in the fall of 2020 and shared it with school directors across the state.

The Wild Prairie Winds have been awarded first prize in the Winter 2024 King’s Peak International Music Competition and the Professional Division of the 2020 Gates of Hope International Chamber Competition. The group has appeared as guest artists at University of Arkansas, Truman State University, St. Ambrose University, Western Illinois University, Cottey College and the Conference of the International Double Reed Society.

Tickets may be bought on the QCMA website, at the door, at Sturhahn Jewelers, HyVee and Niemann’s in Quincy. High school students and younger may attend at no cost. Faculty, staff and students from JWCC, Quincy University and Culver-Stockton College gain free admission with their school ID. Public, private and parochial teachers’ tickets are half-price.
