QU choral festival, concert Thursday night to include area junior high and high school choirs

QUINCY — Quincy University’s Music Department choral ensembles will be the hosts of the QU Choral Festival on Thursday, March 7, at the Connie Niemann Center for Music at QU’s North Campus, 17th and Seminary Road.

Area junior high and high school choirs will join the QU choral ensembles for a day of rehearsal. The choral festival will end with a concert at 7 p.m. in the Connie Niemann Center for Music featuring each participant choir, the QU choral ensembles and a grand finale with the festival chorus, conducted by Jonathan Stewart, QU associate professor of music/director of choral activities.

The chorus repertoire will include “Siyahamba,” a traditional African song, “Scarborough Fair” arranged by Jeremy Rawson and “The Heavens are Telling” from “The Creation” by F.J. Haydn.
