QU fall choir concert set for Oct. 17 at Connie Niemann Center for Music

QUINCY – Quincy University’s music department will be the host a fall choir concert featuring the university’s Concert Choir, Chamber Choir and Clara Voce at 3 p.m. Oct. 17 at the QU Chapel in Francis Hall, 1800 College. The concert is free and open to the public.

Under the baton of Kristin Ramseyer, director of choirs, and accompanied by pianist Laura Kammerer, the Concert Choir will sing “Sicut cervus” by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, “Saints Bound for Heaven” arranged by Alice Parker and Robert Shaw, “Psalm 81” arranged by Alice Parker and Robert Shaw and “The Gift to Sing” by Joan Szymko.

The auditioned Chamber Choir will perform “Ascendit Deus” by Peter Philips, “The Silver Swan” by Orlando Gibbons, “The Blue Bird” by Charles Villiers Standford and “The Bluebird” by Norman Dello Joio.

Clara Voce, QU’s vocal chamber ensemble, will sing “Il bianco e dolce cigno” by Jacques Arcadelt, “Sing We at Pleasure” by Thomas Weelkes, “Nature Boy” by Eden Ahbez, arranged by Anders Edenroth and featuring soloist Kyia Obert, and “Sir Duke” by Stevie Wonder, arranged by Paul Langford.
