QUINCY — The Quincy Art Center has announced the 30th anniversary of the Mary S. Oakley and Lee Lindsay Area Artist Showcase, honoring the rich artistic talent in Quincy and the surrounding region, will run from Nov. 22 to Jan. 4.
The showcase has grown into a platform that provides artists with opportunities for recognition, exposure and engagement with the public.
This year’s exhibition has been expanded to include artists from a 20-county region, encouraging more creators to participate in this juried competition.
Sponsorship from the Oakley and Lindsay families, along with support from Daryl Buechting, the Illinois Arts Council, the Stillwell Foundation and Arts Quincy members, has ensured the continued success of this event.
The event will kick off with an opening reception from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22, featuring an awards ceremony at 7:30 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public, offering a chance to meet the artists and view the artworks.
Artist and educator Jane B. Mudd, who holds an master’s degree from the University of Missouri, will serve as this year’s juror. Mudd will select the works to be displayed and award $3,100 in cash prizes.
Artists from Adams, Audrain, Brown, Cass, Clark, Greene, Hancock, Knox, Lee, Lewis, Marion, McDonough, Monroe, Morgan, Pike (IL), Pike (MO), Ralls, Schuyler, Scott and Shelby counties are encouraged to submit their work.
