Quincy Art Center to host 51st annual high school art competition
QUINCY — The Quincy Art Center invites the community to celebrate the artistic talents of area high school students at the 51st annual high school art competition on display Feb. 1-7. This juried exhibition is open to high school students in grades 9–12 from Adams County and surrounding counties, offering a platform to learn the process of professionally entering and exhibiting artwork.
Students from the following counties are encouraged to submit their original artwork:
Illinois:
- Adams
- McDonough
- Brown
- Cass
- Morgan
- Pike
- Greene
- Hancock
- Schuyler
- Scott
Missouri:
- Marion
- Audrain
- Monroe
- Clark
- Pike
- Ralls
- Knox
- Lewis
- Shelby
Iowa:
- Lee
The community also is invited to the Teen Takeover and Awards Ceremony on Saturday, Feb. 1, from 1 to 3 p.m., with awards announced at 2:30 p.m. This free and open-to-the-public reception will feature:
- Representatives from area college and university art programs available to discuss student artwork and career opportunities.
- Scholarships and prizes awarded by select universities.
- Awards selected by the juror presented by Quincy Art Center.
In addition to the high school competition, The art center will present its eighth annual high school art teacher exhibit showcasing the creativity of educators who inspire the next generation of artists.
High school students may submit up to three works for a $12 entry fee. Upcoming artwork drop-off dates are Jan. 15-18 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Not all submitted works will be selected for display. AI-generated artwork is not accepted.
