QUINCY — Quincy Community Theatre will hold an interactive Discovery Night event for its upcoming production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 6, at Quincy Community Theatre.

Discovery Night is open to the public. There is no cost to attend, and registration is not required. Attendees may optionally RSVP to the event on Quincy Community Theatre’s Facebook page.

In a press release, QCT head of education and director of student theatre Brendan Shea said, “Shakespeare’s iconic stories and timeless themes are exhilarating to watch on stage — though the Bard has a reputation for being difficult to approach for the first time. Our students have taken to Shakespeare’s language and characters like a fish to water (or fairy to enchanted forest?), and I can’t wait to share this richly detailed production with the community.”

A Midsummer Night’s Dream Discovery Night will be hosted by Shea and artistic director Brandon Thomsen. Members of the show’s production team will be present. The interactive event will allow the audience to participate in a question-and-answer session with the cast, crew and production team. Audiences will have an opportunity to learn more about QCT’s immersive Lab Theatre, become acquainted with the production’s directorial concept, and watch a sneak peek of the show.

The timeless play, taking place in a modern-day national park setting, will be held inside Quincy Community Theatre’s lab theatre June 15-18.

This main stage student theatre production is under the direction of Shea, QCT’s head of education and director of student theatre. The production team consists of scenic design by Harrison Clarke, costume design by Vicky Vail, lighting design by Bryan Zipp and stage management by Bailey McNamar.

Tickets for A Midsummer Night’s Dream are $13 and on sale now. The performances are scheduled for June 15-17 at 7:30 p.m. and June 18 at 2 p.m.. Seating is general admission. Everyone is required to have a ticket, regardless of age.

For more information, visit 1qct.org or call the QCT box office, located in the Oakley-Lindsay Center, at 217-222-3209.

QCT’s 2023 season is sponsored by Gardner Denver.
