Quincy High School All-State musicians perform at Illinois Music Educators Association Convention

QUINCY — Twenty-two Quincy High School students participated as Illinois All-State musicians during the Illinois Music Educators Association Convention in Peoria from Jan. 29 through Feb. 1.
More than 10,000 students from elementary, junior high and high schools around Illinois participated in a virtual audition process during the fall of 2024. Of those auditions, more than 7,000 students were selected to participate in district festivals celebrating student musicians in bands, orchestras, choruses and jazz ensembles.
Students in grades 9-12 who participated in the Illinois Music Education Association District Festivals are also eligible to be selected into ILMEA’s All-State Student Programs. This year, 1,500 students were selected to participate in the Illinois Music Education Association’s All-State Student Programs.
In addition to the performing ensembles, this group also includes students who applied for and were accepted into the Future Music Educators Seminar for those students interested in pursuing careers as professional music educators, and students who entered the ILMEA Composition Contest and were selected to participate in the Composition Track.
QHS students honored were:
Ryland Baudino, Honors Concert Band (trumpet), is a senior and a son of Robin Baudino and Jared Baudino. He is a member of QHS Concert Orchestra, QHS Concert Band, QHS Jazz Band and Electric Blue Show Band. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club and Illinois Music Honor Society. This is his first year as an All-State musician.
Arrow Crist, All State Chorus (bass II), is a sophomore and a son of Mick and Cindy Crist. He is a member of QHS Concert Chorale and QHS Blue Devil Big Band. He is a member of the QHS tennis team. This is his second year as an All-State musician.
Dylan Eidson, All-State Chorus (bass I), is a junior and a son of Ashley French and Johnathan Eidson. He is a member of the QHS Concert Choir and QHS Madrigal Singers. This is his first year as an All-State musician.
Alyssa Farlow, All State Orchestra (violin), is a junior and a daughter of Tara Farlow and Jeremy Farlow. She is a member of the QHS Concert Orchestra. She is a member of the National Honor Society, QHS volleyball, Debate Club, Beta Club and Wired. This is her first year as an All-State musician.
Addie Gosteli, Honors Chorus (alto II), is a junior and a daughter of Kari and Brett Gosteli. She is a member of the QHS Concert Orchestra, QHS Concert Band, QHS Concert Choir, QHS Big Band, Electric Blue Show Choir and many QHS theater events. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club and Illinois Music Honor Society. This is her first year as an All-State musician.
Nate Greving, Honors Orchestra (percussion), is a junior and a son of Jake and Valerie Greving. He is a member of the QHS Concert Orchestra, QHS Concert Band, QHS Concert Choir, Electric Blue Show Choir and many QHS theater events. This is his first year as an All-State musician.
Gabby Hanchett, Honors Chorus (soprano II), is a senior and a daughter of Jon and Sarah Hanchett. She is a member of the QHS Concert Choir, QHS Madrigal Singers, Electric Blue Show Choir and many QHS theater events. She is the QHS Colorguard captain, a member of National Honor Society, vice president of Illinois Music Honor Society and choir president. This is her second year as an All-State musician.
Kael Holzgrafe, All-State Band (percussion), is a sophomore and a son of Brian and Becky Holzgrafe. He is a member of the QHS Concert Band, QHS Concert Orchestra and QHS Jazz Lab Band. He is a member of the QHS varsity tennis team. This is his first year as an All-State musician.
Thomas Keller, All-State Chorus (Bbass I), is a junior and a son of Jason and Marci Keller. He is a member of the QHS Concert Band, QHS Concert Chorale, QHS Madrigal Singers, Electric Blue Show Choir, QHS Jazz Ensemble and many QHS theater events. This is his first year as an All-State musician.
McKinley Mast, Honors Chorus (alto I), is a freshman and a daughter Megan Clark. She is a member of QHS Freshmen Chorale, Company Blue Show Choir and QHS Theater. This is his first year as an All-State musician.
Steve Metz, All-State Jazz Band (drum set), is a senior and the son of Angie and Tony Metz. He is a member of QHS Concert Band, QHS Concert Choir, QHS Blue Devil Big Band, QHS Madrigal Singers and Electric Blue Show Choir. Steve is also a member of the Illinois Music Honor Society. This is Steve’s first year as an All-State Musician.
Austin Mondon, All-State Orchestra (French horn), is a sophomore and a son of Leslie Lai and Ken Mondon. He is a member of the QHS Concert Band. He is a member of QHS soccer team, QHS tennis team and a member of the Quincy Area Youth Orchestra. This is his first year as an All-State musician
Natalie Predmore, All-State Orchestra (flute), is a sophomore and a daughter of John and Cheryl Predmore. She is a member of the QHS Concert Band, QHS Concert Orchestra, QHS Concert Choir, Electric Blue Show Choir QHS Madrigal Singers and is involved in QHS Theater productions. She is a member of the Beta Club and Illinois Music Honor Society. This is her second year as an All-State musician.
Miller Robertson, Honors Chorus (bass I), is a senior and a son of Becky Robertson and the late Jerrod McKinstry. He is a member of QHS Concert Choir, QHS Madrigal Singers, Electric Blue Show Choir and many QHS theater productions. He is a member of AP Scholar, Key Club and QHS Student Council. This is his first year as an All-State musician.
Noah Schaefer, All-State Band (clarinet), is a junior and a son of Chris and Beth Schaefer. He is a member of QHS Concert Band, QHS Concert Orchestra, QHS Concert Chorale and Electric Blue Show Choir. He is the clarinet section leader. This is his second year as an All-State musician.
Ryan Siebert, All-State Orchestra (trombone), is a sophomore and a son of Jen and Jeff Siebert. He is a member of the QHS Concert Band, QHS Concert Orchestra and QHS Blue Devil Big Band. He is a member of BETA Club, Boy Scouts and Illinois Music Honor Society. This is his second year as an All-State musician.
Amy Slaughter, All-State Chorus (soprano I), is a senior, and a daughter of Laura and Rodney Slaughter. She is a member of the QHS Concert Orchestra, QHS Concert Choir, QHS Madrigal Singers, Electric Blue Show Choir and many QHS theater events. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club and Student Council. This is her first year as an All-State musician.
Jude Steiner-Haubrich, Honors Orchestra (trumpet), is a sophomore and a son of Gregory and Victoria Haubrich. He is a member of the QHS Concert Orchestra, QHS Concert Band, QHS Blue Devil Big Band, Electric Blue Show Band and QHS Theater. He is a member of the QHS cross country team, QHS track & field, member of 2025 Colts, Madison Park Senior High Ministry and Quincy Area Youth Orchestra. This is his second year as an All-State musician.
Savannah Tournear, Honors Chorus (alto II), is a junior and a daughter of Jennifer and Richard Tournear. She is a member of the QHS Concert Choir, Electric Blue Show Choir, QHS Madrigal and in many QHS theater events. She is a member of the Illinois Music Honor Society and a Volunteer for Leadership. This is her first year as an All-State musician.
Arrianna Trinh, All-State Orchestra (violin), is a sophomore and a daughter of Linh Nguyen and Anthony Trinh. She is a member of the QHS Concert Orchestra. She is a member of the Beta Club, Student Council and the girls tennis team. This is her first year as an All-State musician.
Briar Wilson, All-State Chorus (tenor I), is a senior and a son of Cassie and Ryan Hinkamper. He is a member of the QHS Concert Band, QHS Concert Chorale and QHS Blue Devil Big Band. He is a member of NHS and Scholastic Bowl. This is his first year as an All-State musician.
Conall Wolfmeyer, Honors Chorus (tenor I), is a junior and a son of Randy and Gretchen Wolfmeyer. He is a member of the QHS Concert Choir, QHS Madrigal Singers, Electric Blue Show Choir and QHS theater productions. He is a member of the QHS Astronomy Club. This is his first year as an All-State musician.
Students in the performing ensembles represent the best student musicians in Illinois and came together to present a series of All-State concerts. On Friday, Jan. 31, the Jazz Night Concert featured a night of music performed by the student vocal and instrumental jazz ensembles. The All-State Concert and the Honors Concerts were presented on Saturday, Feb. 1. Each of these ensembles was led by conductors and educators from across the country. This year’s Honors Chorus was led by QHS alumnus Frances Fonza.
The All-State Student Programs run concurrently with the Illinois Music Education Conference, the premier professional development opportunity for music educators in Illinois. This event brings more than 12,000 students, educators, parents and music education industry vendors to the Peoria Civic Center to celebrate and promote music education in Illinois.
