Quincy High School Showcase of Excellence featuring jazz band and show choir competition set for Saturday

QUINCY — The Quincy Public Schools Friends of the Performing Arts is the host of the 32nd annual Showcase of Excellence Jazz Band and Show Choir Competition on Saturday, March 8. Performing groups from Illinois, Missouri and Iowa will compete throughout the day.

The Show Choir competition will feature 19 groups performing in the QHS Theater (3322 Maine) beginning at 7:30 a.m. QHS Company Blue and Electric Blue will serve as hosts and have exhibition performances. Preliminary awards will be at 6:15 p.m. with a finals competition and awards to follow.

The Jazz Band competition will be featuring 16 groups in the Baldwin Auditorium (3300 Maine) beginning at 8 a.m. Quincy Junior High School and Quincy High School ensembles will be in throughout the day. Awards will be announced at 5 p.m.

Concessions will be available at both Baldwin and QHS.

The public is encouraged to attend. Proceeds from the event will support the Quincy Public Schools K-12 Fine Arts program.
