QUINCY — The Quincy Symphony Chorus will showcase songs by pop music legends at its spring choral pops concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 2, at Salem Church.

The chorus is conducted by Phyllis Robertson. The evening features hits made famous by legendary singers Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Barbra Streisand and many others. Selected songs include “Sweet Caroline” by Neil Diamond, “Greatest Love of All” by Whitney Houston, “Your Song” by Elton John and “Wind Beneath My Wings” by Bette Midler.

The chorus, a regional ensemble and all-volunteer group, performs two concerts each season and often joins the Quincy Symphony Orchestra for performances. Auditions are held throughout the year.

Tickets for “Pop Music Legends” will be available at the door or in advance at Quincy Hy-Vee and Sturhahn Jewelers. Cost is $18 for adults and $15 for seniors. Children 18 and under are admitted free to all QSO concerts.

The performance is made possible in part by concert sponsor Royal Printing, media sponsor WTAD/StarRadio and music sponsor Patrick and Sue Ann Gerveler. The 2023-24 season sponsors are Blessing Health System and Knapheide Manufacturing Company.

The $250 early bird drawing for the QSOA fundraising raffle will be held at the end of intermission.  Raffle tickets are $10 each or 12 for $100 and available from any chorus, orchestra, Encore! or board member.

The $1,000 grand prize drawing will be held at the Quincy Symphony’s Orchestra and Choruses’ “Carmina Burana” finale concert on April 20. The winner need not be present at the drawing. Sponsored by Homebank, the annual raffle supports the many programs of the Quincy Symphony Orchestra Association.  Visit www.qsoa.org or call the symphony office at 217-222-2856 for more information.
