River bluffs

HANNIBAL, Mo. — Registration is now open for the seventh annual River Bluffs Paint Out on Saturday and Sunday, May 4-5.

The communities of Hannibal and Canton will be the hosts of the two-day plein air painting event. Plein air events invite artists to communities where they capture the community by creating paintings outdoors and on-site. Painters will converge upon Canton on May 4 and Hannibal on May 5. Participants will paint during the day with the art created daily in each community offered for sale in the evenings.

Area artists are encouraged to participate, as well as artists willing to travel to the area.  For information regarding artist guidelines and registration, interested participants should go hannibalarts.com/gallery/river-bluffs-paint/ to learn more and register.

Artists of any age are eligible to participate. Artwork must be done outdoors, en plein air, during the event. All paint and drawing mediums are accepted. There are no size limits on canvas and paper. Artists will work on site within a designated area determined by each city. Artists must work on public property or on private property with landowner’s permission.

Original art created during the day will be for sale from 5 to 6:30 p.m. during special art sales featuring fresh art made daily. Awards will also be presented each evening. Area arts patrons and art buyers are invited to attend.

The River Bluffs Paint Out is a partnership of the Hannibal Arts Council and Canton Area Arts Council.  Additional partners include the Hannibal Convention and Visitors Bureau, Canton Main Street Association, Canton Tourism Commission, Missouri Association of Community Arts Agencies and the Missouri Arts Council.
