Showcase on Jan. 20 to highlight lineup of performers coming to Legacy Theater in 2024
CARTHAGE, Ill. — The Legacy Theater 2024 Showcase, a free event highlighting this year’s linup of outstanding performers, will be held Saturday, Jan. 20.
The showcase is free to anyone in the region, and reservations are not required. Doors open at 6 p.m. for a social time with light refreshments, and the program will begin at 7 p.m. The evening features a combination of live regional acts, plus video previews of the shows scheduled at the theater during 2024.
Performing live on stage during the evening will be the Western Ramblers, a blue-grass group of faculty and students from Western Illinois University. Contrasting that sound is the classic rock to be performed by JAB, Just Another Band.
A series of videos throughout the evening will give a glimpse of the 2024 schedule, starting with the return of The Liverpool Legends, on Saturday, Feb. 17.
Other acts planned this spring are:
- The BeeGees Gold on March 9;
- Vegas McGraw on April 20;
- Queen Flash on May 11; and
- Twitty and Lynn, a salute to Conway and Loretta, on June 22.
Two non-musical shows providing family fun will be magician Johnny Magic on Friday, May 3, and Diggery Dinosaurs, a science-based adventure featuring large, interactive animated characters, dinosaur bones and beautiful puppets, on Aug. 24. These shows are part of the educational mission of The Legacy Theater.
Returning to Carthage this year is Nashville performer Chenille Sheeran for a fundraising production on July 13. Sheeran helped secure talent in the early days of The Legacy Theater and operated Center Stage Music with vocal and drama training in Carthage. In keeping with her love of teaching, Sheeran will work with a youth choir and an adult choir of local performers during her show.
Fall shows will offer:
- One Night in Memphis: a tribute to Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash on Sept. 29.
- Shawn Gerhard, who brought the Ultimate Garth Brooks in 2023, returns on Oct. 19 for An Evening with Garth and Trisha.
- The a capella sounds of Rockapella Christmas on Nov. 23, and
- The Gambler Returns: Kenny Rogers Christmas Show and the Hits on Dec. 14.
Tickets to the 2024 season shows will be sold at the showcase and are available Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Legacy Theater box office, 1160 Buchanan (Illinois Route 136). Tickets can be purchased on the theater website at thelegacytheater.com or by calling 217-357-9479.
