Spring choir concert by QU music department set for 7 p.m. Thursday

QUINCY — The Quincy University Music Department will present the spring choir concert “Your Story Matters” at 7 p.m. Thursday in the QU Chapel in Francis Hall, 1800 College. The concert is free and open to the public.

Under the baton of Kristin Ramseyer, director of choirs, and accompanied by pianist Laura Kammerer, the concert will feature the university’s concert choir, chamber choir and Clara Voce.

The concert choir will sing “Gravitas” by Jacob Narverud, “No One Is Alone” from the musical “Into the Woods” by Stephen Sondheim, and “I’ll Be on My Way” by Shawn Kirchner, featuring freshman Austin Wood, a baritone soloist.

The auditioned chamber choir will perform “Seasons of Love” from the musical “Rent” by Jonathan Larson, featuring freshman John Beisner, a tenor soloist; “Nature Boy” by eden ahbez, featuring sophomore Kyia Obert, a mezzo-soprano soloist; and “And So it Goes” by Billy Joel.

Clara Voce, QU’s vocal chamber ensemble, will sing “Carol of the Stranger” by Abbie Betinis, featuring sophomore baritone soloist Colby Schulz; “Please Stay” by Jake Runestad, featuring junior soprano soloist Becky Detering; and “I Thank You God” by Gwyneth Walker.
