CARTHAGE, Ill. — “The Gambler Returns: A Tribute to Kenny Rogers” will be presented at The Legacy Theater at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17.

Award-winning country recording artist Alan Turner presents a night of Kenny Rogers’ music that spans over six decades of hit songs. Turner recreates music popular with all generations with his heartfelt performances, a gift for storytelling and Rogers’ distinctive voice. His full band production show includes “The Gambler,” “Lady,” “Islands In The Stream,” “Lucille” and “She Believes In Me.”

Turner started to sing at age 6. When he was 10, Turner said his father gave him Rogers’ album, “The Gambler,” shortly before he died. He says this led to his love of country music, especially the songs of Rogers.

Coming from southeastern Michigan, Turner and his Steel Horse Band have a full schedule of performances as well as “The Gambler Returns” tribute. He and the band met Rogers and was an opening act in 2010.

“His kindness and friendship to me left a permanent impression on my heart,” Turner said in a press release.

Tickets for “The Gambler Returns” and other upcoming shows are available at The Legacy Theater box office from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. Stop in, call the office at 217-357-9479 or order online at www.thelegacytheater.com.
