CARTHAGE, Ill. — The Legacy Theater invites adults and children to include a show as part of their Christmas celebration this year.

First comes Rockapella Christmas at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23, with the blend of five a capella voices singing Christmas tunes with a contemporary rock twist. Rockapella is an American acappella musical group formed in 1986 in New York City. The group’s name, combining “rock” and “a cappella,” describes their talented, full-band sound of “contemporary” a cappella, using only vocal talent and originality.

“There’s nothing in the way between the audience and us; it’s very human music,” Rockapella’s human beatbox Jeff Thacher said in a press release. “No instruments, no hidden tracks, just great music.”

This show is sponsored by Memorial Hospital of Carthage.

Bring the kids to see “Winnie the Pooh” in a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday, Dec. 8.

“Winnie the Pooh” offers a special family outing into the world of the Hundred Acre Woods with this musical adaptation of A.A. Milne’s classic tale. Child tickets are $10 for those 12 years and under.

When Winnie and his friends meet Kanga and Roo, they embark on a journey of discovery and friendship. “Winnie the Pooh” brings Milne’s story to life on stage, inviting audiences of all ages to embrace the joy of acceptance and difference.

The show is performed by Lexington Children’s Theatre, a professional theater company based in Lexington, Ky. This show is sponsored by Ramsey Financial Services.

“The Gambler Returns: a Kenny Rogers Christmas” is slated for 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14. This show will offer familiar Kenny Rogers ballads and traditional Christmas favorites. The Legacy Theater welcomes back award-winning recording artist Alan Turner, who recreates the magic of the country legend.

This full-band production takes a musical journey through the career of Rogers. You will hear some of his 24 No. 1 hits such as “Islands in the Stream,” “Lady,” “She Believes in Me” and “The Gambler.” The audience will get a bonus of favorite Christmas songs in the distinctive Rogers style.

This event is sponsored by Brenda Young Real Estate.

Tickets are available at The Legacy Theater box office from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, by stopping by 1160 Buchanan in Carthage, by calling the office at 217-357-9479, or by ordering online at www.thelegacytheater.com.
