Two Culver-Stockton students to participate in 28th annual Art St. Louis Varsity Arts Exhibition
CANTON, Mo. — The artwork of Culver-Stockton art students Zhane Cariglia and Tabitha Haxel will be featured in the 28th annual Art Saint Louis: Varsity Arts Exhibition to be held March 1-28.
This annual event will display artworks by 37 other outstanding undergrad and graduate-level art students representing 21 regional universities and colleges from Missouri and Illinois. The Art Saint Louis Gallery is free and open to the public six days a week: Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 3 pm. In a press release, Culver-Stockton assistant professor of art Scott Arthur said, “I’m honored to instruct students of promise such as Zhane and Tabitha. Both are very talented, and I’m sure this exhibit is one of many for them. This is a multimedia exhibit with media including ceramics, digital media, drawing, fiber art, graphic design, mixed media, painting, paper, photography, printmaking and sculpture.”
Cariglia, from Maywood, submitted her artwork titled “Night Mother.” This 39.5-inch by 27.5-inch charcoal on paper piece is priced at $600.
Haxel, whose hometown is Hannibal, submitted her artwork titled “Courageous Soul.” This 17-inch by 21-inch charcoal on layered, ripped paper is not for sale.
Awards for this exhibit are one Best of Show Award of Excellence and one honorable mention. Awards will be announced after March 1. For more information about this event and attending, visit artstlouis.org.
