Two Hannibal pickleball enthusiasts to offer free beginners class Sept. 9

HANNIBAL, Mo. — A free class for anyone interested in learning about pickleball will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 9, at the Huckleberry Park courts.

Hannibal pickleball enthusiasts Bill Baker and Tom Batenhorst are offering this class to teach people how to play what is often called America’s fastest-growing sport.

In a press release, Baker said, “The class will focus on the basic rules of the game of pickleball along with the teaching of basic skills and strategy.”

Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong using a paddle and plastic ball with holes. It is a game that is appropriate for players of all ages and skill levels.
